A Legacy of Practice. A Vision for the Future.
CMA Malhar Ashwin Dalwadi
Cost & Management Accountant
Professional introduction
CMA Malhar Ashwin Dalwadi is a practising Cost & Management Accountant based in Ahmedabad, with more than 15 years of professional experience in cost system development, digital finance and financial analytics.
He is the third generation of his family in the cost and management accounting profession, and that heritage shows in his approach: a respect for sound methods, clear documentation and standards that have been tested over time. He is a Fellow Member of The Institute of Cost Accountants of India and also holds associate membership of CIMA (UK) and CIPFA.
His work spans traditional cost accounting, including product costing, cost analysis, management reporting and audit-related work, and modern digital finance. He has hands-on experience with costing systems in SAP FI-CO for industries such as consumer goods, pharmaceuticals and plastics and polymers, and works with how ERP integration supports timely cost analytics and reporting.
Alongside SAP, he works with data analytics and AI-assisted tools to automate recurring reporting and surface patterns in cost data. Technology is treated as an aid to professional judgement, not a substitute for it: every figure and conclusion is reviewed against accounting principles and the facts of the business.
Professional philosophy
- Costing should be accurate first, then clear, then useful for decisions.
- Good systems make the right numbers easy to produce and easy to explain.

Technology & Innovation
Intelligent Cost Management for a Digital World.
Cost accounting principles come first; technology helps make the work more consistent and easier to act on.
The combination
Accounting practice with digital tools
Systems and scripts are only as good as the costing logic behind them. The aim is to pair that logic with tooling that reduces manual work and keeps outputs traceable.
Cost per unit

Gross margin

01
SAP FI-CO & ERP Costing Integration
Costing is only as useful as the structure behind it. Work in this area covers cost centre and cost element structures, allocation logic, product costing and the way costing data moves between finance, controlling and operations.
- Cost centre and allocation design
- Product costing set-up and review
- Reconciliation of costing and financial accounts
02
Cost and Financial Analytics
Where analysis is repeated every month, it can usually be automated. Analytical workflows help consolidate data, test cost variances and produce analysis that can be re-run consistently.
- Variance and trend analysis
- Data consolidation from multiple sources
- Repeatable, documented workflows
03
AI-Assisted Cost Management
AI tools can speed up pattern spotting, summarisation and first-pass analysis. Every output is reviewed against accounting principles and the facts of the business; the tools assist the professional, they do not replace judgement.
- Assisted anomaly spotting for review
- Faster first-pass analysis and summaries
- Professional review of every conclusion
04
Automated Financial Reporting
Routine MIS packs and schedules can be assembled automatically from source data, which reduces manual compilation and the scope for transcription errors.
- Scheduled MIS and cost reports
- Standardised formats
- Traceable links to source data
05
Management Dashboards
Dashboards present the measures leadership uses, such as cost per unit, margin by product and budget against actual, in a clear and consistent way.
- Key cost and margin measures
- Budget versus actual views
- Drill-down to supporting detail
06
Finance Process Optimization
Close, reconciliation and reporting processes often carry avoidable steps. A structured review identifies where automation or redesign can help without weakening controls.
- Process mapping and review
- Control-aware simplification
- Practical implementation roadmap
